Vietnam - Country Information
Blessed by nature, Vietnam boasts lush fertile deltas, primeval tropical forests inhabited by exotic fauna, soaring mountains, mysterious caves, otherworldly rock formations, thousands of islands, and kilometer after kilometer of coastline giving the country incredible potential for eco-tourism and providing diversely unique opportunities for visitors interested in verging from the beaten path and craving true adventure. The country can be thought of as comprising three distinct areas: north, central and south. The north is known for its alpine peaks, the Red River Delta, the plains of Cao Bang and Vinh Yen, enchanting Halong Bay and historic Hanoi, along with the splendid diversity of its 54 ethnic minorities. Central Vietnam, also home to a wide array of ethnic minorities, is characterized by high temperate plateaus rich in volcanic soil and by unspoiled beaches, dunes and lagoons. It is also home to the ancient imperial city of Hue. In the south, visitors encounter modern city life in Ho Chi Minh City and in turn, also have the opportunity to experience traditional river life within the agricultural miracle of the rice bowl delta which surrounds the famous Mekong River.
